Out of Town: Manderley Buyers Revealed

Manderley, Bowral.

The new owners of one of Bowral’s local landmarks – the mansion known as Manderley – are ornithologist Ron Wooller and his wife Sue.

Built for builder Roy Alvaro in 1991 Manderley has had a mixed history, deteriorating under the ownership of author and speaker Paul Hanna, before being bought for $3.35 million in 2010 by J Patrick Fallon, the CEO of Fallon Group, and his wife Judy Lins.

The couple restored the property over the intervening years, and it hit the market complete with formal gardens, five bedroom suites, billiards area, staff quarters and a five-car garage.

It sold in August, reportedly for more than $5 million.

The Woollers are no strangers to grand homes, having bought Calstock in Deloraine, Tasmania, in 2013 for $2.25 million.

The 10-bedroom Georgian mansion is one of the oldest in Tasmania, built in 1831, for Royal Navy Lieutenant Pearson Foote.  It has been carefully restored and is on the market and expected to sell for $3.8 million.
