Ferrari boss Herbert Appleroth has sold his waterfront apartment for $13 million – six years after Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio rejected it as a rental.
Mr. Appleroth doubled his money on the five-bedroom home on Pyrmont’s Sydney Wharf after he purchased two brand new apartments in 2008 for $6.8 million and merged them into the designer pad.
The apartment has a private foyer with exclusive security use, four balconies with harbour views, four bathrooms and four lock-up parking spaces, according to Domain.
The house has 24-metre water frontage, 400 square metres of open plan living and overhead heaters.
There is a fully stocked martini bar and a private wine cellar to cater for 2000 bottle as well as onsite concierge, a lap pool and gym.
The property also boasts an 18-metre marina perfect for a luxury yacht.
DiCaprio inspected the home in 2011 as a potential rental during his time in Sydney filming Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby.
He turned down the Pyrmont property and instead opted for a $36 million mansion in Vaucluse, Sydney’s east, with seven bedrooms, a tennis court and enough garage room for nine cars.
The sale of the Pyrmont house has beaten the previous suburb high of $12 million set in 2015.
